Pond Rockets and Mission = SUCCESS!
Pond Rockets Hockey would like to thank Mission
for being a wonderful sponsor and supplying all the 1st place
awards. We did what we could with very limited time at TRH over the
Open House weekend of April 24-26. Working with and along side Peter
Dale and USA Clinics TRH was a fun filled atmosphere all weekend long.
The tourney maxed out with 16 teams in 4 different divisions!
Starting with the 18u division, the Valkon
Patriots took top honors beating the Detroit Mission Stars 93’s 6-1.
Ryan Alman took home the MVP leading his team with 7 goals and 3 assist
for the tourney! Jamie Daniels had a stellar tourney only allowing 6
goals the entire tournament.
One of the most exciting games of the tournament
was the 30+ Final between the DMS Masters and the Solar Bears. The
Solar Bears jumped out to 2-1 first period lead before it seemed they
just ran out of gas. The DMS Masters scored the only 2 goals of the
second period which would be enough to win the 30+ Division 3-2. Dean
DeAngelo took the MVP scoring 2 goals including the game winner in the
finals.
The Bobs Marlies seemed to be too much for any
team to handle in the Bronze division. They beat the Czech Republic 7-3
in the Finals. Nick Peasant was the MVP as he scored the game winner in
the finals!
One of the most talented divisions yet in a Pond
Rockets tourney was the Gold Division. It was a stellar match up
between the Motor City and Assault and the Poop Patrollers. It was a
tail of 2 tired teams. The Motor City Assault played in 2 tournaments
in the same weekend! Traveling back in forth from Joe Dumars Fieldhouse
and TRH all weekend. Compare to the iron man team of Poop Patrollers,
playing with just 4 guys in every game of the tournament. Poop
Patrollers defeated the Motor City Assault in round robin play 8-7.
That was enough motivation for the Assault to play at the top of their
game giving the extra juice that was needed to pull off a 6-4 Finals
victory.
Congratulations to all the teams that came out for
yet another very fun weekend! See you all very soon. Keep checking
